crown, olive-brown nape; gape
black when breeding, yellow other times. Female: shorter more
curved bill, gape yellow, nape & crown olive-brown. Juvenile:
indistinct pale patch behind eye,
gape yellow & swollen, front
washed yellow. Ssp ocularis male significantly longer bill,
slightly
darker cap contrasting more with nape. Very wide range
of habitats. Sedentary in some areas.
