Notes: Tall, pale-grey crane. Bone-coloured bill, blackish legs, skull back red (absent in juvenile), gular pouch (dewlap) appears black. Cf Sarus Crane . Flies leisurely on very broad wings, legs trail well behind tail. Frequents near wetlands such as swamps, lagoons, claypans, coastal mudflats.
