Notes: Large, slender. Long wings. Pale grey above, paler below, w. distinctive black mask &
throat. Immature paler, w. dark grey mask extending behind eye to ear coverts; underparts
finely barred grey, white. Ssp subpallida has much paler grey upperparts, very pale grey breast
& whitish belly, cf nominate novaehollandiae. Ssp melanops is similar to nominate but has longer
bill.Shuffles wings after landing. Inhabits many wooded habitats w. clearings, farmland.
