Notes: Large. Broad orange-brown breast-band separates black head from dark body. Male head
glossed w. green, bordered below by narrow white collar. Female smaller; white around the eye
& bill. All show white wing coverts, dark primaries & irredescent green secondaries during flight.
Juvenile like female but browner head, neck collar ill-defined, some whitish feathering between
bill & eye. On lakes in fairly open country. Scatter to breed winter/spring, often in farmland.
