Notes: Upperparts warm brown, buffy-cream below. Flattish
head, long slender bill. Darker line
through eye, light above & below. Inside of
mouth deep pinkish orange. Ssp gouldi is slightly
darker than nominate australis, cinnamon-buff wash to sides of breast & flanks, & a longer,
broader-based bill. Juvenile inside of mouth initially yellow. Ubiquitous reedbed dweller. More
often heard than seen.
