Notes: The largest bill of any bird. Buff wash to neck. During courtship, the orbital skin & distal
quarter of the bill are orange-coloured w. the pouch below variously turning dark blue, pink &
scarlet. Non-breeding adult has bill & eye-ring a pale yellow, the pouch is a pale pinkish. Females
are slightly smaller than male, w. a notably smaller bill. Juvenile dusky browns, not blacks; dirty
cream head, neck, skin around eye. Usually found near water, both marine & inland waterways.
