Notes: Small. Primarily grey-brown w. large eyes, relatively
long tail, & "whiskers" on the face.
Sexes usually similar but female
varies between a grey morph & a rufous morph (particularly well
marked
in parts of N Aust.). Ssp tasmanicus smaller w. shorter tail &
upperparts uniformly dark
sooty-grey. Sedentary. Common in semi-arid woodlands,
avoids rainforest. In tree-hollow by day.
Like a noctural flycatcher. Sits
upright, cross-ways on branches. Low level of eye-shine.
