Notes: Rare sea-tern. Like Arctic or Common Tern but short-necked, shorter wings, trailing edge
to primaries more marked. White-fronted Tern has a longer bill. Non-breeding: black half cap;
no dark carpal-bar (cf Common Tern). Juvenile: distinctive black & buff barring on upperparts,
fine buff & brown mottling on breast, black subterminal barring to tail. Breeds on & near
Antarctic Peninsula, incl Macquarie Isl.
